Ways I have used leadership standards!
Sophomore year SEMESTER 1
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Standard 3.5 - Social and Emotional Learning (The student leader establishes and maintains healthy relationships with the student leadership team, the student body, and adults)
Standard 3.5 - Social and Emotional Learning (The student leader establishes and maintains healthy relationships with the student leadership team, the student body, and adults)
This year, my leadership class is a number of 12 people. Last year we had 6, so it's a big jump dealing with more people. In the picture above, I had to send out a text to specific people in my class about who had special parts in this year's hoco skit. This was risky because not everyone received a character, so I had to make sure no one was upset. I texted the people that got parts and for the people that did not, I explained that it was nothing personal, it was just the way skit was choreographed. This avoided conflict and our class stayed stronger than ever. It's been great to collaborate with everyone and being able to work with more people. We gain more ideas through class meetings and work together to make our class fun and exciting. It's important that class officers and commissioners create a bond which makes it easier to work as a team. And it makes it even better when we have helalthy relationships between one another.
BUSINESS AND FINANCE
Standard 4.5 - Advertising (The student leader demonstrates creative ways to advertise)
Standard 4.5 - Advertising (The student leader demonstrates creative ways to advertise)
On our class of 2026 instagram account, we advertise for many events and activities. But one important fundraiser we had to advertise was class clothing. I created this story post for our instagram with students wearing class clothing from last year's skit and I attached the link to purchase the shirts and hoodies. It was important for me to make my advertising informative but also fun so that people are more likely to order our class clothing. This was a creative way to advertise because I added pictures of people in our class and used our class color, pink. This post definitely brought up our sales in class clothing because of my reminder for sophomores to make their orders and rep their spirit!
GOVERNMENT
Standard 2.1 - Procedures (The student leader recognizes the ethical and legal implications of following nor following established procedures, rules, regulations, agreements, and contracts)
Standard 2.1 - Procedures (The student leader recognizes the ethical and legal implications of following nor following established procedures, rules, regulations, agreements, and contracts)
This year my leadership class had to make sure we followed stricter procedures for Back 2 School Week. On last year's Back 2 School Week, we had an incident where people posted red solo cups for Frat Day. The district did not approve of this and we got in trouble for it. So this year when we planned our spirit days, we made sure to make them appropriate and followed the right procedures so that we do not get in trouble again. Following the correct procedures is so important because there are consequences. But we learned from our mistake and had a successful Back 2 School Week with 0 problems. We planned our spirit days, made sure they were good with the district, and we were able to have fun and dress up for one of the best weeks of the year. Above is a picture of me and Ellie on Barbie VS Ken day!
CIVIC AND SERVICE LEARNING
Standard 3.3 - Community Service (The student leader experiences and recognizes the benefit of serving others)
Standard 3.3 - Community Service (The student leader experiences and recognizes the benefit of serving others)
An experience where I recognized the benefit of serving others was at CADA Camp. This leadership camp at UC Santa Barbara was amazing and I learned a lot about how to be a better leader to people at my school and my community. At this camp, I was taught ways to plan efficient events and how to get maximum participation. These components are so important because being in my leadership program at high school, I have learned how to make events fun for students and how to get them engaged. From CADA I also realized that I love making experiences for high schoolers memorable, and it is what I am passionate about. Everything I have taken from CADA, I have brought to Tracy High. That is what made homecoming so great for my class, as we brought home the win! This is a benefit from serving the students in my grade.
COMMUNICATION
Standard 7.7 - Interpersonal Skills (Strong leaders possess exceptional interpersonal skills that focus on active listening, taking the initiative, and collaborating positively)
Standard 7.7 - Interpersonal Skills (Strong leaders possess exceptional interpersonal skills that focus on active listening, taking the initiative, and collaborating positively)
An experience where I used my interpersonal skills is CADA Camp. I learned more about the value of teamwork, listening and collaborating with other students, using problem solving when planning an event and so much more. The events and classes at CADA grew my skills and I was able to take it back with me to Tracy High. Being in a leadership class, I need to be able to communicate positively with the people I am working with, being able to work as a team and not independently, and when there is a problem, knowing how to approach it and what to do to fix it. Going to this camp will not only improve my leadership skills, but also personal skills for the rest of my life.
TECH AND DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
Standard 3.4 - Audio/Visual Presentation (The student leader selects music and other media that are appropriate for the nature of the event, as well as to the values of the school community and the audience present at the event)
Standard 3.4 - Audio/Visual Presentation (The student leader selects music and other media that are appropriate for the nature of the event, as well as to the values of the school community and the audience present at the event)
For the Back 2 School Dance, sophomores were in charge of planning. I wanted our DJ, Derek, to play music that students wanted to hear at the dance. I created a playlist on Spotify based on what songs students answered to a poll on Instagram. This way, people at the dance would like the songs and it would make more people want to go knowing their favorite song will be played. I sent the playlist to my leadership teacher, Mr. Chitwood, and he sent it to DJ Derek. Derek played the songs requested at the dance and it was a big hit.
Freshman year SEMESTER 2
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Standard 1: Group Dynamics
Standard 1: Group Dynamics
My first year on dance team has truly been an amazing experience. Getting to be included with people who have the same passion as me was fun and taught me a lot of important things. We had a strong bond this season. I accomplished many awards alongside my teammates. I received the Scholar Athlete, Most Inspirational, and my three patches: Football season, Basketball season, and Dance. I am excited to see how the next three years of dance team will bring for my friends and I.
BUSINESS AND FINANCE
Standard 5: Customer Service
Standard 5: Customer Service
On February 25 2023, Addison and I worked at a dinner at the Guadalupe Center. We served food to the guests that attended. This was a big community event. Former mayor Robert Rickman and his wife attended, we served them as well. The guests ate dinner, desert, and danced to DJ Nelly. This helped me learn how to have good customer service because as a server, you are recognizing the people's needs.
GOVERNMENT
Standard 3: Elections and Appointments
Standard 3: Elections and Appointments
I participated in my first high school election. I am running for Sophomore Class Vice President. I used my Instagram and Snapchat to advertise my campaign to the people in my class. People who voted for me reposted this image above. I also participated in an interview. I dressed nice and sat in front of the current ASB, future ASB, Mr. Chitwood, Mr. Quintana, and Mrs. Munoz. They asked me questions about the role I am running for.
CIVIC AND SERVICE LEARNING
Standard 3: Community Service
Standard 3: Community Service
Every Sunday, I help out at an organization called Next Level. It is for elementary school students who play flag football. I sit in the box from 12-4pm every Sunday and use the scoreboard. I am happy to help out in my community to keep these sports running for kids who love football.
COMMUNICATION
Standard 3: Public Speaking
Standard 3: Public Speaking
I got the opportunity to lead a chant at George Kelly for a Bulldog Project assembly. This was a big thing for me because I got to hold a microphone and speak to middle schoolers while spreading awareness about serious topics. I was loud and engaged the crowd.

Standard 1: Group Dynamics
Standard 1: Group Dynamics
On September 10, 2022, my friends and I worked at an event called Dancing With The Tracy Stars. At this event we worked together to provide food, put on wristbands, and help the guests attending. All of us enjoy helping out at these types of events. We worked as a team to make it a fun night. I love helping out at community traditions and making sure everyone has a fun time.
GOVERNMENT
Standard 1: Authority and Governance
Standard 1: Authority and Governance
Being apart of student leadership at Tracy High School has been an amazing experience. We do a lot for our school, like planning spirit weeks to leading dog pounds. We plan every event here at Tracy High and work very hard to make it fun for every student on campus. We make many decisions for Tracy High and approve them in meetings. I'm very happy to have the opportunity to be apart of this class.
COMMUNICATION
Standard 3: Public Speaking
Standard 3: Public Speaking
In 2018, in only the fifth grade, I did two big public speaking events. The first one I did was for my DARE program, and I was chosen by former mayor Robert Rickman to present my essay on saying no to drugs. I also participated in a speech contest where I spoke about my favorite novel. I won first place, and all the first place winners went to Tracy City Hall and were presented to the town with certificates from the former mayor, Robert Rickman. It was such a big experience for me only being in fifth grade. This helped me with my social aspect because I learned to speak to large crowds of people and not be afraid. Doing these public speaking events shaped my outgoing personality. Because I spoke to crowds at such a young age, I am now able to do it anywhere, at anytime.

Leadership has also taught me how to use social media. Me, Addison and Jake run the Class of 2026 Instagram account to inform students of class information. We post fun pictures and videos to engage our class.
CIVIC AND SERVICE LEARNING
Standard 1: Civic and Community Engagement
Standard 1: Civic and Community Engagement
At my old dance studio, I was a teacher assistant for little kids dance classes. I got paid and worked with these kids once or twice a week. I worked with the parents as well to communicate about their children. I love to teach my passion to little dancers.
BUSINESS AND FINANCE
Standard 1: Finance/Accounting
Standard 1: Finance/Accounting
Each class in leadership takes care of money. In our class, Class of 2026, we have learned how to manage our money by choosing what to spend it on and deciding what kind of fundraisers to do to raise even more money.
